We Can So Afford a Party
Pace my esteemed colleague's lament on the meagerness of our funds, the LBC is having a BookExpo reception. If you're in New York City on the night of Thursday, June 2nd, come to the Slipper Room, one of the Lower East Side's most awesome venues, from 6-8 p.m. and meet up with whoever among us (a) comes to the big city and (b) doesn't decide they'd rather go see Billy Crystal do the keynote thing. Granted, it is a cash bar (TEV wasn't kidding about the budget), but we got the space for free by volunteering to buy a whole bunch of drinks, and I'm certain that the fine booksellers and publishing industry professionals of America can help us fulfill that obligation. Not to mention the authors. (Speaking of which, will the author of the first "Read This!" selection be there? Who knows -- come and find out!) And any other booklovers within travelling distance of Manhattan.

I'm afraid that, due to end-of-year festivities at my girl's school taking place Fri morning, I won't make it in til very late in the day. However, I'll be signing in my pub's booth Sunday from 11-12 and would love to meet all of you. I have, of course, had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Ron Hogan already.
