i enjoyed reading ngugi's excerpts form his interview. it really made me think twice about my own coception of a few words.

There are several bits I want to write down and remember:
'Creativity, art embodies the principle of what our hands do anyway: change.'
and:
'But fiction should be firmly on the side of the oppressed. Fiction should firmly embody the aspirations and hopes of the majority -- of the peasants and workers.'

I am ashamed that I have read so little of Ngugi wa Thiong'o's work. I will start in earnest in the month of May.
