Hello and thanks for stopping by the LBC. We are less than two weeks away from Summer 2006 Read This! announcement on Monday, July 17. The final selection will be drawn from this list of titles:
Michael Martone by Michael Martone from FC2
White Spirit by Paul Constante (translated by Betsy Wing) from the University of Nebraska Press
Skin by Kellie Wells from the University of Nebraska Press
Crawl Space by Edie Meidav from FSG
Once again, we will be spending a week apiece on all four of the titles through mid-August, bringing you discussions, interviews, podcasts and more. We hope you'll join us.
We are also pleased to announce some changes over on the blogroll to the left. As mentioned in an earlier post, we've seen Lizzie of Old Hag and Derik of MadInkBeard move on to Emeritus Member status.
We have added four new members to the fray, and wish to welcome each of them now:
Carolyn Kellogg from Pinky's Paperhaus
Levi Asher from Literary Kicks
Jessica Stockton from The Written Nerd
Scott McKenzie from Slushpile
Again, please come back on July 17 to see what the Read This! selection is this time around and plan on coming back often during the five weeks that follow for some of the liveliest literary discussions in the blogosphere!
All those selections look like they will be great reads. Cannot wait to see what gets picked.

Skin is a tremendously entertaining literary romp through the lives of some of the most memorable, quirky and beautifully drawn characters in fiction. Kellie Wells has a knack for phrasing and unique vocabulary which keeps the reader entertained and challenged while not distancing the characters through pretentious voices. This is not an easy mix to weave, but it is her forte'!
